Eric Rosser is nearing completion of his first year as Rochester City School District superintendent. On Friday, April 17, the Rochester Beacon will present a wide-ranging online conversation with Rosser—a discussion that will cover both progress on his first-year goals and his longer-term strategy for the district.
Among the challenges Rosser must address are increasing RCSD’s graduation rate, which historically has lagged other districts statewide, and improving outcomes for the nearly 22,000 city school students, many who come from families living in poverty. He also needs to finalize a budget in the face of a roughly $50 million funding gap.
This April 17, slated for noon to 1 p.m., live on Zoom, is free to attend, but registration is required. You can register now.

How many teachers, and school leaders are willing to admit they are wrong and willing to make improvements, right now? Does Dr. Rosser admit to making small and big mistakes?

The EASY button says? “That was easy.” It might encourage students to take EASY steps.

Why single out teachers and school leaders? How many people in ANY profession are willing to admit they were wrong and willing to make improvements, right now?
Can’t make the event. Ask him what outside experts , if any, he’s engaged to help him deal with the problems he inherited. Other superintendents and boards of education in other school districts in the US who have to deal with the same types of problems that plague Rochester have apparently been able to find ways to overcome their challenges. What is Rosser doing to tap into that knowledge?
