Final voting took place Tuesday in an election year headlined by a tumultuous and highly polarized presidential race. In the Rochester region, Election 2024 featured contests for Congress, state Senate and Assembly, and some key local offices; statewide, a controversial proposed amendment to New York’s constitution was on the ballot.

Through AP’s partnership with the Institute for Nonprofit News, the Rochester Beacon is providing live vote-count updates as AP reports them as well as information on the issues and trends impacting the election.

Presidential race

The outcome of the 2024 presidential election was decided around 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, when AP called the race in Wisconsin for Donald Trump, giving the former president enough electoral votes to win election to a second term.

    • Sorry Len, it’s good MORNING in America. Just one letter off. It’s pretty amazing how so many citizens can be wrong in some people’s eyes, minds and thoughts. The majority in the populous vote and the electoral went red. Rochester’s strong Democratic election response? With the worst performing school system in the state….something aint adding up. Keep in mind that Rochester will “graduate” a whole new class of generational poverty by not being able to teach the way kids learn. Len, those stats tell a story. Voting for the same failing politicians over and over expecting different results. Semper Fi.
