The Rochester Broadway Theatre League has received $1 million in state capital funds to continue the renovation of the Joseph A. Floreano Entertainment and Education Center, which is a part of the West Herr Performing Arts Center.

Restorations will include a new pre-show concessions and gathering area, as well as work on detailed drywall and ceiling, flooring, new paint, and additional cosmetic upgrades. A new rear drop-off entrance will position the Floreano Room as an accessible route for patrons with disabilities.
The West Herr Performing Arts Center has been undergoing renovations since it launched a $65 million effort to transform the center into a multistage complex. In May, RBTL received nearly $3 million in funds for the West Herr Auditorium Theater, which will allow for upgrades to the lobby, additional lounging space and two elevators.
“RBTL and the historic West Herr Performing Arts Center brings world class performances directly to the heart of our city, serving as a cornerstone of what makes our community so special,” says state Senator Jeremy Cooney, who secured the funds for RBTL.
The restoration will include a new gathering area, pre-show concessions, and cosmetic upgrades, such as new flooring and paint. Additionally, the new Floreano Room will provide an accessible route for patrons with disabilities. The room’s namesake, Joseph Floreano, was a former board member of the RBTL and executive director of the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.
The RBTL is headed into the 2025-2026 Broadway Season, which will include performances of “Clue,” “& Juliet,” “Spamalot,” “Wicked,” “Kimberly Akimbo,” “A Beautiful Noise,” “Suffs,” and a special engagement of “Hamilton.”
