Hillary Olson, president and CEO of the Rochester Museum and Science Center, plans to step down in June. She leaves to become CEO of Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington, Del.

“I am leaving at a time when the organization is strong, and the future is incredibly bright,” Olson says. “I have full confidence in this team, this Board, and in the continued impact of RMSC for all of the people we serve, currently and into the future.”
She joined RMSC eight years ago and led the organization through the pandemic. The museum’s attendance has since returned to pre-2019 levels, officials say. Olson’s leadership also extended to developing RMSC’s strategic vision and a comprehensive master plan that positions it for sustainability.
“The next leader will inherit a strong foundation and an organization set up for success,” says Jackie Lee, chair of the RMSC Board of Trustees. “We are grateful for Hillary’s leadership and confident in the institution’s future.”
An Ogden native, Olson served as RMSC’s seventh president, taking the reins from Kate Bennett. The RMSC board is working on a transition plan, the museum says.
