Early Learning Corps, an AmeriCorps tutoring program, is looking for tutors to provide individual and classroom support to preschool students. Read the letter.
With 90% of a child’s brain development happening before the age of 5, the early years of learning are critical. That’s why we’re excited to bring an evidence-based resource to Rochester to support the city’s youngest learners.
Early Learning Corps is an AmeriCorps tutoring program that trains local people to provide individual and classroom support to preschool students. Based on a proven national model, Early Learning Corps expanded to Poughkeepsie in 2023 and has since helped more than 850 children get ready for kindergarten. With the support of an Early Learning Tutor, 90% of students made growth in literacy skills and 88% improved in numeracy during the last school year!
Building on this success in Poughkeepsie, Early Learning Corps launched in the City of Rochester this past January, with 12 tutors serving 180 children. Now, we are seeking 45 tutors to begin serving in September. Tutors serve 15, 25, or 32 hours per week during school hours and receive a paycheck every two weeks, plus up to $3,697 for tuition or student loans! No experience is necessary—we provide all the training needed to ensure that tutors and students succeed.
