From bossa nova to Coltrane, with funk, soul and gospel in between, the first day of this year’s Rochester International Jazz Festival brought a world of sound to town.
Day 7 featured one of the festival’s most exciting vocalists and some powerful jazz cats.
From Sullivan Fortner’s piano improvisations to Ekep Nkwelle’s soul-stirring vocals, the night unfolded as a study in contrast and connection.
The festival, which draws thousands to Rochester’s center city, has slated over 285 performances from today until June 28.
