COVID-19 has claimed more than 2,000 lives in Monroe County, but its crisis stage finally appears to be over. As many people move on from the worst pandemic in a century, Commissioner of Public Health Michael Mendoza M.D. reflects on what we’ve learned. “We could have prevented so many of those deaths,” he says.
